Ridge Capping — Re-bed & Re-point
The top line of the roof, done the old way and sealed the new way.
Ridge caps sit on a mortar bed that Adelaide's heat and clay movement slowly break apart. When the pointing cracks, water gets under the caps; when the bedding fails, caps loosen — and a loose ridge cap in a storm is a projectile. Most tiled-roof leaks we trace end at the ridge.
Re-bedding lifts the caps and lays a fresh mortar bed; re-pointing seals the line with a flexible compound made to move with the roof instead of cracking like old rigid mortar. Done together, the ridge is watertight and storm-fast for the long term.

Straight answers
How do I know if my ridge capping is failing?
From the ground: crumbled mortar in the gutters, visible cracks along the ridge line, or a cap sitting off-line. From inside: leaks that appear near the top of the roof. Any of these is worth an inspection.
Re-pointing or full re-bedding — what's the difference?
Pointing is the sealing layer; bedding is the structural seat under the caps. If the bed is sound, re-pointing alone may do. If caps move when tested, they need re-bedding first — pointing over a failed bed doesn't hold.
